Qualifications

Applicants must have:

• High school diploma or GED
• Mechanical aptitude with experience or formal training in machinist trade
• Ability to operate machine shop equipment (lathes, shapers, grinders, etc.)
• Ability to read and record measurements with tools like micrometers and calipers
• Ability to check and align rotating equipment
• Ability to interpret blueprints and sketches
• Physical fitness, good attendance, punctuality, safety performance

Additional consideration for:

• Completed machinist courses
• Experience as a machinist or trade school graduate
• Knowledge of power plant mechanical work
• Other relevant qualifications

Primary Duties

Repair, rebuild, and manufacture units and components for mechanical and electrical equipment, ensuring safe and efficient operations. Tasks include:

1. Creating and fitting custom units and parts, working from blueprints and measurements
2. Operating stationary and portable machine tools
3. Applying shop mathematics and making necessary dies and fixtures
4. Performing general mechanical maintenance and related work
