QUALIFICATIONS:

• High school diploma or GED
• Strong mechanical aptitude and experience or formal training in machinist trade
• Ability to operate machine shop equipment (lathes, shapers, grinders, presses, etc.)
• Ability to read and record precise measurements with tools like micrometers and calipers
• Capability to check and align rotating equipment
• Ability to interpret blueprints and sketches
• Physical fitness, good attendance, punctuality, safety awareness, and aptitude testing

Additional considerations:

• Completed machinist trade courses
• Experienced machinist or trade school graduate
• Knowledge of power plant mechanical work
• Other relevant qualifications

PRIMARY DUTIES:

Repair, rebuild, layout, and manufacture units and components for mechanical and electrical equipment, ensuring safe, continuous, and efficient operation. Tasks include:

• Creating custom units and parts, aligning, disassembling, assembling, and fitting to close tolerances
• Operating stationary and portable machine tools
• Applying shop mathematics and using reference materials
• Performing general mechanical maintenance and construction work as assigned
