Job summary

McWane Plant and Industrial (MPI) in Wethersfield, CT, is seeking an experienced Machine Operator I for our fabrication and machining operation. The role involves measuring, threading, adjusting flange fit, and facing flanges on pipe using lathes and threaders, with oversight by the Branch Manager.

The position requires reading a tape measure and micrometer, basic math, and the ability to operate a forklift and crane.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
• Previous experience with machinery is desired.
• Ability to read a tape measure and micrometer; proficient with math.

Responsibilities

• Measure, thread, adjust flange fit, and face flange on ductile or steel pipe.
• Operate manual machines such as lathes and threaders, and crane to move pipe between stations.
• Verify measurements and thread depth; test flange to ensure proper fit.
• Properly apply glue and tighten flange; handle pipe from 3" to 6" diameter, 4" to 18' length.
• Maintain safety and cleanliness; adhere to PPE and safety programs.
