Job summary

Cornerstone Building Brands is seeking a Machine Operator I for our Shelbyville, IN site. The role involves setting up and operating heavy machinery, reading blueprints, and ensuring quality finishes. Shifts run from 5:00 am to 1:30 pm with overtime possible based on production needs.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent (GED).
• At least 1 year of manufacturing or similar experience.
• Experience operating manufacturing machinery.
• Good communication and basic computer skills.
• Able to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Forklift and crane experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate heavy machinery and gauges for cutting, punching, forming, blocking, and processing operations.
• Follow safety rules and protect workers in a manufacturing environment.
• Operate CNC-controlled machines (presses, lasers, rolling mills) safely and efficiently.
• Perform routine maintenance and lubrication on equipment and tools.
• Read blueprints and specs to select correct materials and parts.
• Identify and implement cost-saving ideas to improve productivity and reduce waste.
• Inspect finished parts for quality per the Quality Systems.
• Read tape measures and follow schedules.
• Be a team player and support overtime needs when required.
