Job summary

Cornerstone Building Brands is seeking a 2nd shift Machinist/Operator in Monticello, IA. The role involves setting up and operating heavy machinery, reading blueprints, and ensuring quality production in a dynamic manufacturing environment.

You will handle computerized equipment, perform preventive maintenance, and adhere to safety rules. The job requires lifting up to 50 pounds and working under varied conditions including heat and cold.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED equivalent.
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in high production manufacturing environment.
• Interpret blueprints, specifications, and other technical data and select correct raw material or semi-finished parts.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a continual basis above shoulder height and below the waist.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate heavy machinery and related gauges to perform various cutting, punching, forming, blocking, and processing operations.
• Produce quality-building parts by understanding production techniques.
• Follow safety rules and precautions in a manufacturing environment.
• Operate computerized equipment and material handling equipment.
• Perform routine preventive maintenance, adjustments, and lubrication on equipment and production tools.
• Mark part numbers and attach identification tags for traceability.
• Maintain continuous improvement practices in the work area.
• Handle repetitive material with occasional awkward body positioning.
• Climb on/off equipment and ladders as needed.
• Work under varying conditions inside and outside (hot, cold, rain, shine).

Job Description

JOB DETAILS

Base pay starts at $20 per hourplus $1.00 per hour shift differential

2nd Shift: 3:15 pm - 1:45am

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Set up and operate heavy machinery and related gauges to perform various cutting, punching, forming, blocking, and processing operations
• Knowledge of production techniques and have the ability to produce quality-building parts
• Knows and understands all safety rules and precautions necessary for working in and about a manufacturing environment
• Ability to operate computerized equipment and material handling equipment
• Perform routine preventive maintenance, adjustments, and lubrication on equipment and production tools as required to maintain proper operation
• Mark part number, order number, number of pieces on parts. Attach identification tags as required for customer to have the ability to locate correct parts
• Maintains continuous improvement practices in work area
• Repetitive material handling. Some in awkward body positioning
• Repetitive climbing on and off of equipment and ladders
• Varying and extreme working conditions inside and outside (Hot, Cold, Rain, Shine)
