Job summary

Cornerstone Building Brands, Inc. is seeking a Machine Operator I for our Florida site to set up and operate heavy machinery, perform cutting, punching, forming, and related processes with emphasis on safety and quality.

The role requires following production techniques and producing quality parts. The position involves reading blueprints, maintaining equipment, and adhering to standard operating procedures.

Qualifications

• 1 year of experience - safe & efficient operation
• Includes all line equipment, processes, and procedures
• Detail and quality oriented
• Verifiable dependability and energetic
• Good communication skills
• Basic computer skills (Email, Internet, Excel, Word)
• Requires experience with hand tools, wrenches, banding equipment, and nail guns
• Able to read a tape measure and other measuring devices
• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds repeatedly
• Forklift experience is a plus - trainable
• Flexible with overtime and weekends when needed

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate machinery and equipment to cut, punch, form, or paint parts
• Follow safety rules in a manufacturing environment
• Operate CNC-controlled machines (presses, lasers, rolling mills) safely
• Perform routine preventive maintenance and lubrication
• Mark part numbers and attach identification tags for customer traceability
• Interpret blueprints and specs to select materials
• Maintain continuous improvement in the work area
• Provide cost-saving suggestions to improve productivity and reduce waste
• Inspect work visually for defects according to Quality Systems
• Read a tape measure and follow posted schedules
• Be a team player with safety first
• May be assigned other projects by Team Leader
• Willing/able to work overtime

Job Description

JOB DETAILS

Base Rate: $18.00 - $21.00 per hour

Schedule: 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM per hour

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Machine Operator I is responsible for setting up and operating heavy machinery and related gauges to perform various cutting, punching, forming, blocking, and processing operations. They must have thorough knowledge of production techniques and the ability to produce quality-building parts.

• Understands and follows safety rules and precautions necessary for working in and around a manufacturing environment
• Ability to set-up and operate machinery and equipment to cut, punch, form, or paint quality finished or semi-finished parts.
• Ability to operate computerized equipment and material handling equipment.
• Operate various CNC-controlled machines, such as presses, lasers, and rolling mills in a fast-paced production setting, with an emphasis on safety and quality
• Performs routine preventive maintenance, adjustments, and lubrication on equipment and production tools as required to maintain proper operation.
• Marks part numbers, order numbers, and the number of pieces on parts. Attaches identification tags as required for customer to have the ability locate correct parts.
• Interprets blueprints, specifications, and other technical data to select the correct raw material or semi-finished parts.
• Maintains continuous improvement practices in work area.
• Provide cost-saving suggestions and ideas to improve productivity and eliminate waste
• Inspect work visually for defects according to Quality Systems
• Read a tape measure, write, and follow posted schedules
• Team player and keeping safety first
• May be assigned other projects and duties as designated by Team Leader
• Willing/able to work overtime
