Job summary

Cornerstone Building Brands in Houston, TX seeks candidates for a 2nd shift manufacturing role. Base pay is $17.00 per hour plus a $1.00 shift differential. Shifts run 5:00PM–3:30AM and vary with workloads. Expect 8–12 hour days depending on orders and season.

The job involves operating heavy machinery, following safety rules, and ensuring quality parts. Candidates should have a HS diploma or GED, basic math/computer skills, and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) required.
• Minimum of one year of related manufacturing experience or similar environment.
• Good communication skills.
• Basic computer skills.
• Experience with hand tools, wrenches, banding equipment and nail guns.
• Able to read a tape measure.
• Forklift experience a plus / forklift training.
• Crane experience a plus / crane training.
• Flexible with overtime and weekends when needed.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds repeatedly.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate heavy machinery and related gauges to perform cutting, punching, forming, blocking, and processing operations.
• Knowledge of production techniques and ability to produce quality parts.
• Follow safety rules and precautions in a manufacturing environment.
• Operate computerized equipment and material handling equipment.
• Perform routine preventive maintenance, adjustments, and lubrication on equipment.
• Mark part numbers and quantities; attach identification tags for traceability.
• Interpret blueprints and specifications to select raw materials.
• Maintain continuous improvement practices in the work area.
• Stand and walk 8-12 hours daily.
• Handle repetitive material and work in varying body positions.
• Climb on/off equipment and ladders.

JOB DETAILS

Base pay rate is $17.00 per hour plus $1.00 shift differential

2nd Shift: 5:00PM - 3:30AM, hours may vary depending on operations

The shifts are 8 hours, 10 hours, and 12 hours long depending on work orders for the day and season of the year.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Set up and operate heavy machinery and related gauges to perform various cutting, punching, forming, blocking, and processing operations
• Knowledge of production techniques and have the ability to produce quality-building parts
• Knows and understands all safety rules and precautions necessary for working in and about a manufacturing environment
• Ability to operate computerized equipment and material handling equipment
• Perform routine preventive maintenance, adjustments, and lubrication on equipment and production tools as required to maintain proper operation
• Mark part number, order number, number of pieces on parts. Attach identification tags as required for customer to have the ability to locate correct parts
• Interpret blueprints, specifications, andother technical data and select correct raw material or semi-finished parts
• Maintains continuous improvement practices in work area
• Standing and walking 8-12 hrs. every day
• Repetitive material handling. Some in awkward body positioning.
• Repetitive climbing on and off of equipment and ladders
• Varying and extreme working conditions inside and outside (Hot, Cold, Rain, Shine)

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)
• A minimum of one year of related work experience in manufacturing or comparable work environment
• Good Communication Skills
• Basic Computer Skills
• Experience with hand tools, wrenches, banding equipment and nail guns
• Able to use of measuring gauges
• Able to read a tape measure
• Forklift experience a plus / Must be trainable on forklift
• Crane experience a plus / Must be trainable on crane
• Flexible with working overtime and weekends when needed
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a continual basis above shoulder height and below the waist
