Operator – 1st, 2nd, 3rd shift

The Operator is responsible for, but not limited to, disassembly, cleaning, and assembly of extrusion lines. An Operator may also be involved with starting and operating a production line. This position requires a combination of technical experience, interpersonal skills, and problem-solving abilities. The Operator's specific duties include:

1. Reading and understanding all production paperwork.
2. Working independently on assigned projects.
3. Working in and around extruders, hoppers, loaders, and other equipment.
4. Assembling and disassembling extrusion lines according to the Scandia Plastics Extrusion Training Manual and the Production Setup Sheet.
5. Ensuring equipment operation by evaluating and recommending repairs to the Production Supervisor and maintenance using repair tags.
6. Understanding material inventory and proficiency with material mixing.
7. Maintaining a clean, safe work area.
8. Performing all duties safely.
9. Maintaining compliance with company policies, procedures, and safety programs.
10. Collaborating with all employees to achieve goals.
11. Potentially serving as a Production Supervisor when necessary.
12. Communicating effectively with colleagues across shifts.
13. Performing additional tasks as requested by management.

Qualifications:

1. High school diploma or equivalent, or related experience/training, or an equivalent combination.
2. Effective verbal communication skills.
3. Knowledge of production functions including extrusion line operation, setup, and quality control.
4. Ability to perform well in a fast-paced environment with changing schedules and priorities.
5. Familiarity with Q.C. instrumentation and reading prints.
6. Mechanical aptitude.
7. Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions.
8. Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills.

Physical Requirements:

1. Occasionally lift up to 55 lbs.
2. Good hand-eye coordination and physical stamina.
3. Perform standing, bending, carrying, stooping, and moving within the production area for entire shifts.
4. Visual abilities including close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
