Job summary

AV is seeking a Machine Learning Engineer to advance computer vision capabilities for defense and commercial applications. You will work within the LEAP group of AV’s MacCready Works division to design, prototype, test, and validate ML/vision solutions, with on-site experimentation and travel.

The role requires a strong background in ML/CV, Python/C++, and Nvidia toolchains, plus the ability to collaborate across disciplines in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• BS in Computer Science/Engineering/Math/Physics with 2+ years ML/CV experience.
• 2–5 years of relevant computer vision experience.
• Proficient in Python and C/C++.
• Familiar with PyTorch and ML libraries such as OpenCV, scikit-learn, pandas.
• Familiar with Linux and Nvidia tools (CUDA, JetPack, TensorRT).
• Experience troubleshooting and optimizing algorithms; data analysis skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop CV/ML algorithms for object detection, classification, localization, and tracking for real-time ATR.
• Conduct data science tasks: data labeling, training, and validation with designed experiments.
• Analyze models, set objectives, and create metrics to measure progress.
• Choose datasets and representations; analyze errors and improve designs.
• Develop and test software to integrate ML into aircraft or other systems.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
