Job summary

AeroVironment, Inc. seeks a Machine Learning Engineer III to advance computer vision and ML algorithms for defense and commercial UAV applications. You will work with R&D teams across requirements, prototyping, testing, and validation stages to deliver cutting-edge AI solutions.

The role requires strong expertise in CV/ML, Python, C/C++, and Linux, with 5–8 years of experience and a focus on robust, tested deployments in complex environments. ITAR/EAR compliance is a consideration.

Qualifications

• BS in Computer Vision and Machine Learning or equivalent in math/CS/engineering.
• 5–8 years of relevant experience.
• Familiarity with C/C++ and Matlab.

Responsibilities

• Support development of computer vision and machine learning algorithms capable of detection, classification, localization, and tracking objects from UAV data.
• Write and test software to integrate ML algorithms into aircraft or robotic systems.
• Explore and visualize data, identify distribution differences that affect models.
• Implement ML systems and validate through designed experiments.
• Develop models with objectives and metrics to track progress.
• Analyze ML algorithms to solve problems and rank by success probability.
• Ensure data quality and perform data cleaning as needed.
• Collaborate effectively within a team and manage resources to meet deadlines.
