Amentum is seeking a Machine Design Engineer II for its Advanced Solutions Group, based in Tullahoma, TN or Greenville, SC. The role involves multi-disciplinary design work on complex facilities for defense and aerospace clients, with frequent collaboration across engineering disciplines.

This entry-level/early-career opportunity emphasizes ownership, technical growth, and contributing to complete design packages. Travel is required 1–3 days per quarter, in a dynamic, challenging environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace from ABET-accredited program.
• Minimum 3 years’ relevant machine design experience.
• Knowledge of common machine design elements (gears, bearings, belts, screws, etc.).
• Strong mechanical analytical skills: kinematics, dynamics, stress/strain, power transmission.
• FEA: static stress-strain, natural frequency.

Responsibilities

• Independently but with guidance, perform assignments with limited complex features.
• Analyze and evaluate results using prescribed techniques.
• Prepare technical reports, presentations, and calculations.
• Coordinate with designers/drafters and review work when needed.
• Support interface development with other disciplines and produce complete design packages.
