Job summary

Amentum's Advanced Solutions Group seeks a Senior Mechanical Process Engineer to lead design and execution of complex process systems for defense, energy, and aerospace projects. This role offers multi-site opportunities across Tullahoma, TN; Farmington Hills, MI; and Greenville, SC with a collaborative, fast‑paced environment.

You will guide multidisciplinary teams, develop piping and thermal conditioning layouts, and ensure compliance with ASME codes and project schedules while mentoring

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited program required.
• US citizenship is required for government customer compliance.
• 10+ years engineering experience or 12+ years with MS.
• Experience designing process systems including piping and thermal conditioning.

Responsibilities

• Lead project teams to develop new designs for process systems in research and test facilities.
• Own technical schedule and budget performance for assigned work.
• Plan, schedule, and coordinate engineering activities using appropriate techniques and criteria.
• Analyze project features applying sound engineering principles.
• Review results and ensure accuracy and documentation.
• Develop technical reports and presentations for management and clients.
• Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance.
• Collaborate with structural, machine design, controls, and aerodynamics/fluid dynamics engineers.
• Size and specify piping/ducting, and select compressors, pumps, valves, and related equipment.
• Design high‑pressure cryogenic/pneumatic piping; high‑temperature steam systems; refrigeration and fuel systems.
