Job summary

Amentum is seeking a Senior Mechanical Process Engineer for the Advanced Solutions Group. Based at our Greenville, SC office, you will lead multidisciplinary teams from concept to execution on complex process systems for defense, energy, and research facilities.

You will own schedules and budgets, develop layouts and drawings, and collaborate with engineers across disciplines to deliver high-quality results while mentoring junior staff.

Qualifications

• US citizenship required for government regulations.
• B.S. in Mechanical, Aerospace or related field from ABET program.
• Minimum 10 years experience or 12 years with an MS degree.
• Experience designing process systems including piping and thermal conditioning.
• Self-motivated with ability to work independently or in a team.
• Ability to lead and contribute within a multidisciplinary engineering team.
• Knowledge of standard and specialized process piping systems.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.
• Experience managing project scope, schedule, and budget.
• Knowledge of pumps, valves, heat exchangers, chillers, rotating equipment.
• Experience developing process layouts, drawings, specs.
• Site and field installation experience; troubleshooting.
• Knowledge of ASME B31.1, B31.3, and B&PV codes.
• Thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, thermal sciences knowledge.
• Experience with design/maintenance of mechanical process systems preferred.
• Experience with AutoCAD, 3D modeling, AutoPIPE, CAESAR II, Mathcad, Creo, AFT preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead project teams to develop new designs for process systems in research facilities.
• Own technical schedule and budget for assigned work.
• Plan, schedule, and coordinate engineering activities with procedures.
• Analyze project features using engineering principles and best practices.
• Review results for completeness and proper documentation.
• Develop technical reports and client presentations.
• Provide installation support and supervise contractors.
• Create engineering calculations and engineering drawings.
• Collaborate with structural, machine design, controls and other engineers.
• Lead, mentor, and provide guidance to junior engineers.
