Job summary

Johnny Was LLC is seeking an Assistant Store Manager in California to support the Store Manager in building a high-performing sales team and delivering elevated client experiences. The role focuses on coaching, brand leadership, and data-driven decision-making to drive topline results.

The candidate will lead by example on the sales floor, develop a client-centric culture, and ensure compliance with company standards while maintaining exceptional service across all touchpoints.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2+ years of sales management experience in luxury retail or related field.
• Bachelor’s degree in a similar field is preferred.
• Ability to analyze selling reports, identify business trends, and react quickly to the needs of the business.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to lead a diverse team.
• Strong understanding of luxury fashion, trends, and visual merchandising.
• Flexibility to work demanding schedules, including weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Meet and exceed store sales plan.
• Assist Store Manager in staffing the store and developing a high-performing, best-in-class team.
• Demonstrates strong business acumen, utilizing all tools/support available within the framework of the business, partnering with the Store Manager to drive topline results.
• Act as a brand ambassador in the local market/mall to drive brand loyalty and business.
• Understands and uses all retail systems and reporting tools.
• Maintain, support, and enforce company operations, standards, and practices, ensuring compliance and clear communication of all pertinent information to the team.
• Develops a culture of trust, integrity, and excellence by modeling professionalism and setting clear performance expectations.
• Coach, develop, and motivate the sales team to meet performance goals through ongoing feedback and support, escalating performance concerns to the Store Manager.
• Lead the sales team by example through sales efforts and customer service on the salesfloor to increase profitability. Commitment for delivering results; actively aware of personal and store metrics and achieves goals.
• Model and enforce dress code compliance.
• Ensure that customer and employee experience are prioritized over workload or tasking.
• Demonstrate confidence when leading the team and managing the store. Takes initiative; has a high level of ownership and accountability for results, both personally and as a team.
• Contribute to long-term growth by recruiting high level candidates and maintaining and developing a store team of associates able to meet service and sales goals.
• Cultivate an inviting atmosphere that makes every client feel genuinely welcomed, engaged, and deeply valued.
• Develop a client engagement mindset with the purpose of building long lasting relationships.
• Leverage data, tools, and key metrics to drive business results while increasing client retention and cultivating long-term loyalty.
• Provide a personalized and positive in-store experience by delivering excellent service, taking a solution-oriented approach to client inquiries, and efficiently handling all transactions and returns.
• Demonstrates leadership by playing an active role on the salesfloor.
