Job summary

JW Marriott Turnberry Miami Resort & Spa is seeking a Server Assistant to support the Food Server by preparing stations, assisting with guest service, and maintaining cleanliness and efficiency in the dining areas. The role involves greeting guests, stocking service stations, and helping with table settings.

The ideal candidate has a professional luxury-hotel demeanor, basic POS knowledge, and a Food Handling & TIPS certificate; experience in a luxury environment is a plus.

Qualifications

• Ability to communicate in English.
• Outstanding guest service skills.
• Food Handling & TIPS certificate required.
• Knowledge of food and wine/cocktail beverages is an asset.
• Basic computer knowledge Micros or other point of sale (POS) systems.

Responsibilities

• Greet (using names) and acknowledge each guest after seating with hotel greeting standard.
• Knowledge of restaurant layout and location of all equipment and supplies.
• Set tables with silverware and glassware and other items.
• Ensure place settings are appropriate and each guest has the necessary items for the standard place setting.
• Making sure that all items are set up on the buffet table and are put away at the end of service.
• Polish silverware.
• Assist restaurant staff in their tasks.
• Ensure service stations are stocked and ready for service.
• Observe and take note of dirty, clean, and occupied tables that need a refresh.
• Know and implement standards/procedures of service for guest.
• Assist guests service needs in a professional and timely manner.
• Assist as needed to maintain standards of appearance, sanitation, and service in all areas of the restaurant.
• Assist the servers by refilling beverages and water and running food to the tables.
• Perform any other reasonable duties as required by management.
