Job summary

R.P. Lumber Co. in Silvis, IL is seeking a Yard Associate to ensure every customer receives prompt, courteous service while maintaining a safe, clean yard. You will help with loading, unloading, stocking, and preparing materials for delivery, and you may travel with delivery loads to assist in unloading at customer sites.

A forklift is preferred and on‑the‑job training is provided. The role requires strong teamwork, safety awareness, and flexibility to work weekends. R.P.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• 1 year of related work experience preferred.
• Valid state driver's license.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work flexible schedule including weekends.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers or contractors in a friendly manner upon entry into the yard.
• Load materials into customers' vehicles or delivery trucks based on records from POS system.
• Unload incoming freight without damaging goods or carrier equipment.
• Operate forklift to merchandise and stock yard and warehouse.
• Accurately build loads and prepare materials for delivery.
• Assist truck drivers in delivery of merchandise to homes and job sites.
• Respond to customer inquiries regarding product selection and pricing.
• Maintain inventory, displays, and pricing labels per merchandising standards.
• Follow safety rules and policies as communicated by management.
• Perform other duties as requested by the Yard Manager.
