Job summary

R.P. Lumber Co. is hiring a Yard Associate to ensure prompt, courteous service and a safe, clean yard. The role includes stocking, loading and unloading, and assisting with deliveries to homes and job sites.

The position emphasizes forklift use, inventory control, and strong communication with customers, vendors, and drivers. A valid license is required; weekend hours may apply and benefits are provided for full-time staff.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 1 year of related work experience preferred.
• Valid driver’s license; Missouri locations may require a Class E license.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers or contractors in a friendly manner upon entry into the yard or Home Retail Center.
• Load materials into customers' vehicles or on to company delivery vehicles, after validating type and quantity based on the record of the transaction from the POS system.
• Unload incoming freight, taking care not to damage the goods or equipment.]
• Operate forklift to merchandise and stock yard and warehouse.
• Accurately build loads and prepare materials for delivery before delivery takes place.
• Assist truck drivers in delivery of merchandise to homeowners and job sites using company equipment.
• Respond to customer inquiries regarding product selection, orders, prices, quotations, scheduling of deliveries and installations, and customer follow-ups.
• Maintain inventory, product displays, pricing labels, and merchandising standards; keep storage safe and organized.
• Follow and enforce all safety rules and policies.
• Perform other duties as requested by the Yard Manager.
