Job summary

Carle Health's NT7 Digestive Surgical Unit seeks a licensed practical nurse to join a 43-bed, high-acuity surgical team in central Illinois. You will work under RN supervision to support patients with digestive surgical needs, including wound care and IV therapies.

The role emphasizes collaboration with surgical residents and attendings, with a focus on safety, patient comfort, and efficient care transitions. A $2,500 sign-on bonus with a 2-year commitment is available for external applicants.

Qualifications

• Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) with Illinois license or eligibility.
• BLS certification within 30 days of hire.
• LPN experience or >1 year in acute care setting.

Responsibilities

• Passes medications and IV piggybacks; documents assessments.
• Charts care plans with RN involvement and initiates plans as needed.
• Coordinate with physicians/APPs for orders and dressing changes.
• Perform trach care, NG tube care and feedings; ostomy care.
• Reinforce patient education and discharge instructions.
