Job summary

BioLife Plasma Services in Fairview Heights, IL, part of Takeda, is seeking a Medical Support Specialist to support plasma center operations. You will determine donor eligibility, manage donor adverse events, review laboratory test results, and notify donors of unsuitable results.

Under the Center Manager and Center Physician guidance, you will follow SOPs, assist with vaccination programs, incident management, and readiness for environmental, health and safety programs, leveraging FDA training

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent incl. nursing program requirements.
• State license/certifications: EMT-B/EMT-A/EMT-I/EMT-P, LPN/LVN, RN.
• CPR and AED certification required.
• Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy.
• FDA training for BioLife Medical Support Specialist.
• Two years in a clinical or hospital setting.

Responsibilities

• Determine donor eligibility, including informed consent, AIDS education and self-exclusion, medical history interview and acceptance requirements, physical exam, testing, and SPE review.
• Evaluate donor reactions and manage medical emergencies per SOPs and center standing orders.
• Refer to Center Physician or Medical Affairs for unacceptable findings or guidance on medical/technical issues.
• Support Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees.
• Manage employee incidents per EHS guidance and determine need for further evaluation.
• Possibly serve as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and support investigations.
