Job summary

Southern Ohio Medical Center is seeking an LPN to join the Orthopedic Care Unit on a full-time, 36 hours per week schedule with night shifts. Under RN supervision, you will support care planning, assessment, and discharge processes while ensuring patient safety and comfort.

The role emphasizes collaboration, patient and family teaching, and adherence to unit policies. Ohio licensure and BLS are required, with opportunities for tuition assistance and comprehensive benefits as described by SOMC.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or successful completion of an equivalent High School Exam required.
• Graduate of an accredited school of practical nursing required.
• Licensed to practice as an LPN in Ohio required.
• BLS within 90 days of hire required.

Responsibilities

• Assists in completion of the nursing assessment of patients and documents appropriately on patient record.
• Assists with developing, evaluating and updating a plan of care based upon the assessment of the patient.
• Assists with the discharge planning process.
• Provides, delegates, and coordinates patient care.
• Facilitates patient/family teaching as appropriate.
• Participates in hourly rounding and bedside shift report.
• Answers call lights and responds to patient needs.
• Performs total patient care.
• Pre-cleans, decontaminates and transports contaminated instruments according to policy.
• Performs intermediate-level disinfection and/or high level disinfection per the Instructions for Use (IFU).
• Performs other duties as assigned.
