Job summary

Southern Ohio Medical Center in Portsmouth, OH seeks a Registered Nurse for the Orthopedic Care Unit. This full-time role (36 hrs/wk) includes a night shift with responsibilities across assessment, care planning, and coordination of patient care.

You will collaborate with physicians and teams to develop plans of care, participate in discharge planning, and provide patient and family teaching while maintaining unit policies and procedures.

Qualifications

• RN license to practice in Ohio.
• BLS certification within 90 days of hire.
• Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.

Responsibilities

• Complete nursing assessment and document in patient records.
• Develop, evaluate and update the plan of care based on assessment.
• Communicate with physicians and health team to plan care.
• Initiate and participate in discharge planning.
• Coordinate patient care and delegate tasks as needed.
• Facilitate patient and family teaching when appropriate.
• Participate in hourly rounds and bedside shift report.
• Respond promptly to call lights and patient needs.
• Provide total patient care across units as assigned.
• Pre-clean and transport instruments per policy.
• Perform disinfection per IFU for department scopes and probes.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
