Job summary

Southern Ohio Medical Center is seeking a Medical Office Licensed Practical Nurse in West Union, OH. This full-time, on-site position supports the Family Health Center with patient exams, vitals, and education, under supervision of clinic management.

The ideal candidate is an LPN licensed in the state with BLS within 90 days and 1–3 months of prior experience in a physician office setting. SOMC offers competitive pay and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Graduate of an accredited practical nursing program.
• Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license for the applicable state.
• BLS certification within 90 days of hire.
• 1–3 months experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assists provider with patient exams, procedures, venipuncture and diagnostics.
• Collects and documents vitals, chief complaints, and medical histories.
• Performs LPN duties related to physician office operations.
• Conducts monthly supplies and medications inspections; disposes expired items.
• Ensures clinical supplies are stocked and organized.
• Reviews next day's appointments by chart.
• Updates patient medication lists.
• Assists with phone coverage, scheduling, and scanning.
• May cover other Foundation office areas as needed.
• Collaborates with health care team to manage patient care.
• Pre-cleans, decontaminates, and transports instruments per policy.
• Cross-trains to Medical Office Assistant duties.
• Follows vaccine/medication management policies.
• Reviews ERX requests with providers; handles failed prescriptions.
• Obtains insurance authorizations/pre-certifications as needed.
• Performs disinfection per IFU and maintains equipment.Documents in medical records per policy.
• Assists providers in navigating medical records during visits.
• Documents all patient-provider interactions during services.
• Performs daily AED checks and weekly/monthly equipment check-offs.
• Maintains cleanliness of patient care areas after visits.
