Southern Ohio Medical Center is seeking an LPN to join the Orthopedic Care Unit on a full-time, 36 hours per week schedule with night shifts. Under RN supervision, you will support care planning, assessment, and discharge processes while ensuring patient safety and comfort.

Shift/schedule: Full time (36 hrs/wk), nights
Works under the supervision of the Registered Nurse. The LPN's primary job function is to assist the RN in assessing, planning, implementing, evaluating, and supervising individual patient care on a nursing unit according to unit policies and procedures. Assists the RN with implementation of plan of care. Supports each strategic value by providing excellent care to those we serve. Performs other duties as assigned.
The following is a summary of the major job duties of this job. Other duties may be performed, both major and minor, which are not mentioned below. Specific activities may change from time to time.
1. Assists in completion of the nursing assessment of patients and documents appropriately on patient record.
2. Assists with developing, evaluating and updating a plan of care based upon the assessment of the patient.
3. Assists with the discharge planning process.
4. Provides, delegates, and coordinates patient care.
5. Facilitates patient/family teaching as appropriate.
6. Participates in hourly rounding and bedside shift report.
7. Answers call lights and responds to patient needs.
8. Performs total patient care.
9. Pre-cleans, decontaminates and transports contaminated instruments according to policy
10. Performs intermediate-level disinfection and/ or high level disinfection per the Instructions for Use (IFU) by the manufacture. This includes ensuring the scopes or probes used within the department are cleaned, disinfected, maintained and stored per the IFU’s
11. Performs other duties as assigned.
