Job summary

Armor Health in Scranton, PA seeks a dedicated Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join the Lakawanna County Jail medical team. The role covers 3pm–11pm shifts, every other weekend and holiday, focusing on holistic correctional care.

Responsibilities

• Provide holistic nursing care to patients in a correctional setting.
• Assist health care providers and other professionals with examinations, treatments, and routine procedures.
• Obtain patient health history, collect specimens, record vital signs, and administer TB skin tests.
• Conduct lab tests and ensure results are delivered to the responsible physician or nurse.
• Ensure the patient receives appropriate care for injuries or conditions.
• Review patient charts and report observed symptoms, reactions and changes.
• Coordinate patient transfers to medical facilities and document all contacts using the POMR format.

The LPN will work 3pm to 11pm every other weekend and every other holiday

Responsibilities

• Provide holistic nursing care to patients in a correctional setting.
• Assist health care providers, registered nurses, and allied health professionals with examinations, treatments, special tests, and routine procedures.
• Obtain patient health history, laboratory specimens, vital signs and administers TB skin tests.
• Conduct lab tests and ensures the results are delivered to the correct physician or registered nurse.
• Ensure patient is receiving proper care for injury or condition.
• Review patient chart; records and reports observed symptoms, reactions, treatments, and changes in patient's conditions.
• Coordinate patient transfers to medical facilities or outside health care providers; administer medications; implement healthcare practitioners' orders; and document all patient contacts using the POMR format.

Qualifications

• Current/Active state license as an LPN

• Proficient with electronic medical records
• Ability to pass pre-employment Level 2 clearance to include a background check and drug screen
