SFM Mutual Insurance Company is seeking a Risk and Safety Consultant (Loss Prevention Specialist) to advise on safety and health services for policyholders. The role involves visiting businesses, conducting risk assessments, and delivering training to reduce incidents.

The successful candidate will work remotely from MN, with a company car provided. Responsibilities include leading risk assessments, applying OSHA/ANSI standards, and developing service plans for medium to large policyholders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required or substituted with six-plus years in safety field or insurance experience.
• Master’s degree preferred.
• Knowledge of state and federal regulations related to workers’ compensation, safety and OSHA.
• Excellent presentation and facilitation skills to develop and conduct training.
• Strong time management and ability to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Lead comprehensive risk assessments of policyholder operations and loss history; create reports to improve safety and reduce incidents.
• Make recommendations to control customers’ risk, loss and costs.
• Interpret OSHA/ANSI standards; educate clients on compliance and best practices.
• Establish full-range service plans through assessment of controls, operations and loss history; work with mid to large policyholders.
• Evaluate environmental and occupational disease exposures to determine risk.
• Plan and present safety-related educational programs and provide training when needed.
• Provide risk assessment information to internal teams and collaborate within a team environment.
• Interact with policyholders, agents and team members to achieve goals.
• Provide first-class customer service and uphold service standards.
• Mentor team members and contribute to a high-performing environment.
