Job summary

SFM Mutual Insurance Company in Minnesota is seeking a Risk and Safety Consultant (Loss Prevention Specialist) to deliver loss control safety and health services for policyholders. You will lead risk assessments, educate clients on compliance, and design service plans to reduce incidents and losses, with a remote work option for MN residents.

The role requires a bachelor’s (or substitution with related safety field experience), 6+ years in safety or insurance, and strong training and customer

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in safety, risk management or science preferred; direct safety field experience can substitute.
• Six plus years’ experience in safety-related field or with an insurance company.
• Knowledge of applicable state and federal regulations related to workers’ compensation insurance, safety and OSHA.
• Excellent presentation and facilitation skills and the ability to develop and conduct training programs.

Responsibilities

• Lead comprehensive risk assessments of policyholder operations, management controls, and loss history and create reports outlining the risk analysis and share with customers to improve or reduce frequency and severity of workplace incidents.
• Make recommendations to control customers’ source of risk, loss and/or costs.
• Interpret and apply OSHA, ANSI, and other safety standards; educate clients on compliance and best practices.
• Establish a full-range service plans through complex assessment of management controls, physical operations, and loss history.
