Job summary

Ledyard Middle School seeks a Long Term Middle School Science teacher to begin immediately, through the end of October, under the supervision of the School Principal. The teacher will foster scientific inquiry, problem-solving, and application of science, while supporting student growth and confidence in learning.

The role requires CT General Science certification and a commitment to diverse instructional strategies, collaboration with staff and parents, and ongoing professional development.

Qualifications

• CT teaching certification in General Science (034), (234), or Integrated Science (235).
• Experience teaching middle school preferred.
• Ability to work cooperatively with administrators, teachers, support staff, and parents.
• Uses a variety of teaching styles to support independent and group learning.

Ledyard Middle School is seeking a Long Term Middle School Science teacher beginning immediately and anticipated to continue through the end of October (based on the needs of the district). Under the general supervision of the School Principal, the successful candidate will develop students' skills and competence in one or more fields of science, abilities in scientific methods, inquiry and problem-solving, and understanding of the application of science.

Additional Duties

• Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Principal and other central office administrators as designated by the Superintendent.

Salary and Benefits

• The daily rate for substitute teachers is $130. Please note for long term substitute positions (40+ days): The daily rate for long term substitute teachers with certification is $283.49 beyond the 40th consecutive day worked in the same assignment.

Physical Requirements

• Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer or standing to teach.
• Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
• Must be able to traverse the classroom and adjust one's tone and height, by bending or leaning, in order to teach each child.
