Job summary

Ledyard Public Schools is seeking Substitute Teachers in all subject areas for the 2026-2027 school year. Substitutes are responsible for following lesson plans, supervising students, and maintaining a classroom environment conducive to learning.

Substitute teachers are responsible for following lesson plans, supervising students, maintaining a classroom environment conducive to learning and respectful of the needs of students.

Qualifications

• Must be age 18 or older
• Enthusiasm for teaching and learning

For educators who do not have a bachelor's degree, a district can apply for a waiver using the following steps: The district may submit an online application detailing the applicant's experience with school-age children.

Pay

• The daily rate for substitute teachers is $130.

Physical Requirements

• Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer or standing to teach
• Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times
• Must be able to traverse the classroom and adjust one's tone and height, by bending or leaning, in order to teach each child
