Ledyard Middle School seeks a Long Term Middle School Science teacher to begin immediately, through the end of October, under the supervision of the School Principal. The teacher will foster scientific inquiry, problem-solving, and application of science, while supporting student growth and confidence in learning.

The role requires CT General Science certification and a commitment to diverse instructional strategies, collaboration with staff and parents, and ongoing professional development.

Qualifications

• CT teaching certification in General Science (034), (234), or Integrated Science (235).
• Experience teaching middle school preferred.
• Ability to work cooperatively with administrators, teachers, support staff, and parents.
• Uses a variety of teaching styles to support independent and group learning.

Responsabilités

• Work in the interest of students' physical and emotional welfare and to embrace a growth mindset.
• Plan, prepare and deliver instructional activities that facilitate active learning experiences in science.
• Promote critical and creative thinking and analysis.
• Keep inventory of materials, equipment and supplies.
• Maintain contact with parents and school personnel as needed to evaluate students' academic and social growth.
• Communicate effectively orally and in writing with a variety of people, including students, their parents and staff.
• Accept and incorporate suggestions for classroom improvement.
• Continue to acquire professional knowledge by attending seminars, workshops or professional meetings, or by conducting research.
