Ledyard High School is seeking a Mathematics teacher. Under the general supervision of the School Principal, the successful candidate will develop students' skills and competence in the field of mathematics and understanding of the application of mathematics.

Responsibilities

• Work in the interest of the students' physical and emotional welfare and to embrace a growth mindset
• Plan, prepare and deliver instructional activities that facilitate active learning experiences in mathematics
• Promote critical and creative thinking and analysis
• Cultivate perseverance through consistent application of problem-solving skills
• Maintain contact with parents and school personnel as needed to evaluate students' academic and social growth
• Communicate effectively orally and in writing with a variety of people, including students, their parents and staff
• Accept and incorporate suggestions for classroom improvement
• Continue to acquire professional knowledge by attending seminars, workshops or professional meetings, or by conducting research

Additional Duties

• Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Principal and other central office administrators as designated by the Superintendent.

• Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times
• Must be able to traverse the classroom and adjust one's tone and height, by bending or leaning, in order to teach each child
