Job summary

Deptford Township Public Schools is seeking a long-term substitute science teacher for Deptford Middle School. The assignment runs from January 4, 2027, through May 27, 2027, with responsibilities including lesson planning, classroom management, and alignment with district goals.

The successful candidate will report to the School Principal and perform duties such as assessments, progress reporting, parent communication, and curriculum support.

Qualifications

• Holds or is eligible for a NJ Instructional certificate in specific areas or grades to be taught. OR Holds a NJ Substitute Certification.
• Highly Qualified in specific areas as required by the New Jersey Department of Education.

• Plans lessons that strive to meet the individual needs, interests, and abilities of all students.
• Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.
• Guides the learning program toward the achievement of district and school goals and objectives.
• Employs instructional methods and achievement in accordance with established standards of proficiency.
• Promotes student learning and achievement in accordance with established standards of proficiency.
• Assess the accomplishments of students on a regular basis, keep appropriate records, and provides progress reports, as required.
• Confers, as necessary and desirable, with parents/guardians.
• Identifies the learning needs of students on a regular basis, seeking assistance of district specialists, when appropriate.
• Assists in curriculum development, in the selection of books, equipment and other instructional materials, and maintains required records.
• Attends staff meetings and serves, as appropriate, on staff committees.
• Assists in upholding and enforcing school rules, administrative regulations, and board policy.
• Maintains professional development and growth.
• Maintains ethical and professional behavior in working with students, parents, school personnel and other agencies.
• Performs duties which are within the scope of his/her employment and certification as assigned by his/her supervisor in accordance with N.J. State Law, State Board of Education Rules and Regulations, Deptford Township Board of education policies, and contractual obligations.
