Qualifications

• Previous medical records experience required.
• Long-term care or skilled nursing facility experience strongly preferred.
• Knowledge of HIPAA regulations.
• Experience with electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
• Ability to work independently while maintaining confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate, complete resident medical records in accordance with facility policies and regulatory requirements.
• Review medical records for completeness, accuracy, and proper documentation.
• Ensure physician orders, medical forms, and required documentation are completed and maintained appropriately.
• Maintain confidentiality of resident information in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
• Process medical records requests and release information in accordance with applicable laws and facility policies.
• Conduct routine medical record audits to ensure accuracy and compliance.
• Maintain electronic and paper medical records.
• Collaborate with nursing staff, physicians, and other departments to obtain missing or incomplete documentation.
• Assist with regulatory surveys, inspections, and medical record reviews.
• Perform additional administrative duties as assigned.
