Job summary

J.B. Hunt Transport Services, Inc. is seeking a Manager Trainee to learn every facet of fleet operations, including load planning, route optimization, and customer service.

You will develop skills in driver management, compliance with DOT regulations, and coordination with drivers and carriers to ensure timely freight movement. You will participate in a structured program that may require working nights and weekends, with relocation encouraged after completing the initial 1–6 month period.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Transportation/Logistics, Supply Chain, or related field.
• Willingness to travel to account, customer, and company event locations.
• Ability to work across multiple shifts including nights and/or weekends if needed.
• Willingness to regionally relocate dependent on account assignment.

Responsibilities

• Learn to build and maintain relationships with drivers and carriers to ensure carrier setup and productivity.
• Fill in for absent personnel and support special projects to optimize fleet operations and profitability.
• Learn to train and orient drivers and staff, including internal and third-party systems.
• Analyze and report on KPIs, provide customer reporting and financial analysis at customer locations.
• Gain knowledge of inventory, assets, and driver assignments to balance equipment in market.
• Perform administrative duties including payroll, budgeting, driver counseling, and invoicing.
• Learn to manage yard operations and coordinate with maintenance for preventive services and safety fixes.
• Resolve service issues with drivers, customers, and company staff as they occur.
• Maintain the company's safety culture and DOT compliance through training and safety communications.
• Plan loads and routes to meet on-time service targets and customer requirements.
