Job summary

J.B. Hunt Transport, Inc. in Winston-Salem, NC is seeking a Manager Trainee to learn the fundamentals of fleet management, scheduling, and driver coordination, including nights and weekends, under general supervision.

You will train to ensure safe, compliant operations, route and load planning, payroll support, and customer service, while developing skills in fleet optimization and reporting. This entry-level path offers exposure to DOT compliance, teamwork, and opportunities to advance within

Qualifications

• Bachelor's in Business Administration, Transportation/Logistics, Supply Chain, or related field, or HS diploma with 1 year management/transport/logistics experience.
• Willing to travel to account locations.
• Ability to work across multiple shifts including nights/weekends.
• Willingness to relocate regionally based on account assignment.

Responsibilities

• Learn to build and maintain relationships with drivers and carriers for new carrier setup.
• Fill in for absent staff and on projects to optimize fleet operations and profitability.
• Learn to train drivers and staff in internal and customer systems.
• Improve fleet efficiency and present customer reporting and financial analysis.
• Learn to manage inventory, assets, and driver assignments.
• Handle payroll, budgeting, pay issues, and financial reporting.
• Oversee yard operations, maintenance coordination and safety compliance.
• Collaborate with drivers, customers, and staff to resolve service issues.
• Support safety culture with regular driver safety messages and trainings.
• Plan loads, routes, and monitor freight with ETA adjustments.
