Job summary

J.B. Hunt Transport, Inc. in Huntersville, NC, seeks a Manager Trainee (January 2027) to learn managing a small driver count and non-traditional shifts (nights/weekends), ensuring safe, on-time freight movement and DOT compliance with excellent customer service.

You will build driver and carrier relationships, help optimize fleet operations, participate in training, payroll, budgeting, and safety programs, and support profitable operations across accounts.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Transportation/Logistics, Supply Chain, or related field, OR High School Diploma/GED with 1 year of management/transportation experience.
• Willingness to travel to account, customer, and company event locations as applicable.
• Ability to work across multiple shifts including nights and weekends.
• Willingness to relocate regionally based on account assignment.
• Experience in managing a team is preferred.
• Ability to analyze situations and make informed decisions.

Responsibilities

• Learn to build and maintain positive relationships with drivers and carriers for seamless carrier setup and productivity.
• Fill in for absent personnel and support special projects to optimize fleet operations.
• Lead training/orientation for drivers and staff and support with internal/customer systems.
• Identify and report on KPIs, improve efficiency, and present performance reports to customers.
• Assist with payroll, budgeting, driver counseling, and safety/compliance tasks.
• Coordinate with maintenance for preventing downtime and safe vehicle operations.
