Job summary

J.B. Hunt Transport, Inc. is seeking a Manager Trainee in Indianapolis, IN, to learn the management of a small driver count and non-traditional shifts, including nights and weekends.

You will coordinate with drivers and external carriers to ensure safe, on-time freight movement and exceptional customer service. Under supervision, you will gain exposure to payroll, budgeting, and performance reporting, while developing leadership skills and understanding DOT regulations and company safety

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration/Management or GED with 1 year of related experience.
• Ability to work across multiple shifts including nights and/or weekends.
• Willingness to travel regionally and relocate dependent on account assignment.

Responsibilities

• Learn to build and maintain positive relationships with drivers and carriers to ensure smooth carrier setup and productivity.
• Fill in for absent personnel and support special projects to optimize fleet operations and profitability.
• Learn personnel management, training, and orientation of drivers and employees including customer systems.
• Maximize efficiency of fleet operations, measure KPIs, and prepare customer-specific reporting and financial analysis.
• Assist in inventory, assets, and driver assignment to balance equipment across markets.
• Perform payroll and Net-Revenue budget management, driver counseling, and invoicing or financial reporting.
• Coordinate with maintenance for preventive service scheduling and safety-related repairs as needed.
• Work with drivers, customers, and colleagues to resolve service issues and plan loads and routes.
• Maintain and enforce safety culture and DOT compliance through training and policy adherence.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Business Administration/Management

GED or High School Diploma with 1 year of experience in management/transportation/logistics
