Job summary

J.B. Hunt Transport, Inc. seeks a Manager Trainee to learn the management of a small driver count, including nights and weekends, while ensuring safe, timely freight movement and strong customer service. The program trains compliance with DOT regulations and supervises drivers and internal staff.

You will gain experience in load planning, routing, and performance reporting, with exposure to payroll, budgeting, and safety initiatives in a dynamic logistics environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or 1 year of management/transportation experience.
• Willing to travel to account locations and events.
• Ability to work across multiple shifts including nights/weekends.
• Willingness to relocate regionally based on assignment.

Responsibilities

• Learn to build and maintain relationships with drivers and outside carriers.
• Fill in for absent staff and work on special projects to optimize fleet operations.
• Train drivers and staff on internal and third-party systems.
• Analyze and report on KPI and profitability with customer-specific reporting.
• Manage inventory, assets, and driver assignments to balance equipment.
• Perform payroll, budgeting, invoicing, and related administrative duties.
• Assist with yard management and preventive maintenance coordination.
• Coordinate with drivers, customers, and personnel to resolve service issues.
• Uphold the company safety culture and DOT compliance.
• Plan loads and routes to ensure on-time service and meet customer needs.
