Job summary

J.B. Hunt Transport, Inc. is seeking a Manager Trainee to learn the management of a small driver count and non-traditional shifts, including nights and weekends.

You will ensure safe, timely movement of freight, load assignment, and best-in-class customer service while training for DOT compliance and company policies. The role involves building relationships with drivers and carriers, supporting fleet operations, payroll and budgeting tasks, and contributing to profitability through KPI-based

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Transportation/Logistics, Supply Chain, or related field OR High School Diploma/GED with 1 year of experience in management, transportation/logistics, business administration, account management, or related field, and/or equivalent military experience
• Willing to travel to account, customer, and company event locations when applicable
• Ability to work across multiple shifts including nights and/or weekends if needed
• Willingness to regionally relocate dependent on account assignment
• Experience managing a team (preferred)
• Ability to adapt to changing environments (preferred)
• Strong customer service and communication skills (preferred)

Responsibilities

• Learn to build and maintain relationships with drivers and outside carriers to ensure seamless carrier setup and productivity
• Fill in for absent personnel and work on special projects to optimize fleet operations and profitability
• Learn to train drivers and employees including system training and orientation
• Measure KPIs and present customer-specific reporting and financial analysis at customer locations
• Learn to manage inventory, assets, and driver assignments to balance equipment in market
• Perform administrative duties such as payroll, budgeting, driver counseling, accident reviews, invoicing, and reporting
• Coordinate yard operations and maintenance to ensure safety and reliability of equipment
• Collaborate with drivers, customers, and staff to resolve service issues, routing and planning as they arise
• Support safety culture with driver safety messages, trainings, and compliance with DOT requirements
• Plan loads, routes, and monitor freight movement to meet customer requirements and manage freight exceptions and ETA adjustments
