Job summary

BlueLinx in Portland, ME is hiring CDL drivers for local routes. You will drive with flatbed and curtain side trailers, avoid tarping, and return home every night and weekend.

Starting pay is $32.89 per hour on first shift with new, safe equipment. We provide a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, prescription coverage, life insurance, 401K, paid time off, holiday pay, and tuition reimbursement.

Qualifications

• Valid Class A CDL
• Minimum 21 years of age
• 12 months of verifiable tractor-trailer experience within the last 3 years
• Safe driving record
• Ability to secure loads
• Ability to operate in all weather conditions

Responsibilities

• Properly secure loads using straps—no tarping required
• Deliver freight accurately and on time; handle customer product returns when required
• Manage Proof of Delivery paperwork
• Interact professionally with customers and communicate issues
• Complete daily safety checklist and required DOT inspections
• Maintain electronic logbook and complete trip reports
• Direct unloading by customers when required

What You'll Deliver:

• Properly secure loads. NO tarping – ONLY strapping
• Accurate and timely delivery of freight and handling of customer product returns when required
• Manage Proof of Delivery paperwork from customers
• Interact professionally with customers and communicate customer issues
• Maintain daily safety checklist and perform all required DOT inspections
• Maintain electronic logbook and complete trip reports
• Direct the unloading by customers, when required

How You'll Deliver:
