Job summary

NextDecade in Brownsville, Texas, seeks a Sr. Advisor, Emergency Response & Fire Protection to provide strategic leadership for emergency preparedness, fire protection systems, and major accident response at the Rio Grande LNG Facility and Marine Export Terminal.

You will build an integrated risk-based program, serve as site SME for incident command, training, and regulatory coordination with PHMSA, OSHA, USCG, and local authorities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Fire Protection Engineering, Fire Science, Emergency Management, Safety, Engineering, or related technical discipline.
• Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in industrial emergency response, firefighting, fire protection, or emergency management.
• Minimum 5 years supporting LNG, gas processing, refining, petrochemical, terminal, or other major-hazard operations.
• Experience leading an industrial emergency response team, fire brigade, incident command function, or comparable emergency organization.
• Knowledge of NFPA 59A and NFPA standards applicable to industrial fire protection, emergency response, inspection, testing, maintenance, and training.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a TWIC and participate in rotating on-call.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Emergency Response Program across LNG facility areas and infrastructure.
• Define responder roles and competency profiles for incident commanders and fire teams.
• Establish training requirements and maintain qualification matrices and records.
• Provide technical authority for fire protection equipment and systems lifecycle oversight.
• Develop Tactical Response Plans for LNG releases and other major accidents.
• Coordinate with regulators and external emergency services, mutual-aid partners, and local authorities.
• Plan and execute drills and exercises; oversee after-action reviews and improvement actions.
• Integrate emergency preparedness into budgets, staffing, and capital projects.
