Job summary

NextDecade is seeking a Facility Risk Engineer in Brownsville, TX to support safe LNG train operations. You will collaborate with Production Shift Managers, HSSE, and engineering teams to perform risk assessments, develop mitigations, and ensure regulatory compliance.

The role involves field oversight, barrier management, and continuous safety improvements across shifts. The position requires a engineering degree and 5+ years in oil & gas or petrochemical environments with strong risk assessment

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in engineering or closely related discipline required.
5+ years in oil & gas, chemical or petrochemical industries with risk assessment experience.
TWIC credential and knowledge of barrier management and Bowtie concepts appreciated.

Responsibilities

Lead risk assessments for SIMOPS, high-risk work permits, and barrier impairments.
Review and improve mitigation plans; ensure compliance with NextDecade procedures and regulations.
Monitor field activities for adherence to risk controls and permit risks during shifts.
Facilitate safety-focused pre-start and toolbox talks to promote HSSE awareness.
Coordinate with barrier owners on management of impaired Safety Critical Elements.
