Job summary

The New School is seeking an Overhire Production A2 for The College of Performing Arts to support live sound and stage operations for academic performances and partner events. The role reports to the Audio & Video Supervisor and involves running audio crew, RF mics, and stage moves.

This is an overhire position with no guaranteed weekly hours, scheduled as needed by the Audio & Video department. Potential renewal based on funding and need.

Qualifications

• At least 2 years of live sound engineering experience.
• Strong knowledge of gain structure and signal flow.
• Ability to read technical riders and stage plots.
• Excellent communication and time-management skills.
• Ability to work with diverse teams.

Responsibilities

• Understand and execute the technical aspects of designs, signal flow plans, I/O lists, and stage plots.
• Setup, patch, and test microphones with the A1 and crew.
• Mix monitors for events when required.
• Coordinate RF mics for events.
• Execute stage moves for shows.
• Provide professional service to all parties.
• Fulfill System Tech or Console Operator roles as needed.
• Setup, operate, and strike equipment before, during, and after events.
• Direct technicians under supervision to deliver university standards.
• Additional responsibilities as assigned.
