The position provides support for 3–4 attorneys with an active litigation and bankruptcy practice. Legal assistants collaborate with paralegals to support attorneys and are responsible for opening new matters, drafting engagement letters, following up on conflict checks (performed by paralegals), profiling documents in NetDocs, identifying deadlines and scheduling related tasks, filing in state and federal courts, preparing paper or electronic binders, and drafting motions or other documents as requested. This is not a paralegal position and there are no mandatory billing requirements.
The preferred candidate will have at least five years of experience as a litigation legal assistant. Attorneys rely on assistants to be proactive in managing deadlines and workload.
The firm offers a hybrid schedule (three days in the office one week and two days the next, after a 60-day training period) and a 37.5-hour workweek. The firm provides 100% paid parking and employee health insurance. Occasional after-hours work may be required due to the nature of litigation; overtime is paid after 40 hours per week.
