Job summary

School City of Hammond seeks an Elementary Interventionist to drive literacy improvement across K-6. You will collaborate with principals, teams, and Title I staff to implement school-wide reading strategies and monitor progress with district assessments.

The role focuses on organizing data, providing professional development to aides and volunteers, and guiding targeted interventions to raise literacy achievement for all students.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree preferred, or BA with literacy emphasis.
• Indiana Educator’s License (Current).
• 5+ years classroom experience (K-6) in reading.
• Reading intervention experience required (e.g., Read 180, Reading Recovery).
• Participation in balanced literacy professional development.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate exemplary literacy practice and knowledge of literacy theory.
• Teach across K-6 in varied settings; collaborate with teams.
• Coordinate and monitor interventions for students not meeting expectations.
• Provide PD to aides/volunteers and train tutors in reading and language arts.
• Lead data-driven decision making and share progress with staff.
