Job summary

Vultr is seeking a Linux Systems Administrator to design, administer, and optimize Linux-based infrastructure supporting our global customer base and data center operations. The ideal candidate is technically driven, detail-oriented, and capable of exercising independent judgment when diagnosing complex system issues and implementing scalable solutions.

Qualifications

• Proficient in Linux system administration across CentOS, Debian, and Ubuntu.
• Strong scripting skills in Bash and Python.
• Experience diagnosing complex system performance, security, and reliability issues.
• Familiarity with virtualization and networking concepts.
• Hands-on with web servers, databases, caching, and firewalls.
• Understanding of security hardening and standard Linux utilities.
• Experience with distributed storage solutions like Ceph.

Responsibilities

• Design, configure, and implement Linux upgrades and scalability changes.
• Administer Linux servers and services; diagnose issues and improve stability.
• Act as escalation point for Linux issues with root-cause analysis.
• Collaborate with engineering to support new data center deployments.
• Migrate applications and systems with risk assessment.
• Monitor security posture and ensure compliance with standards.
• Develop automation and tooling to reduce manual effort.
• Create documentation and diagrams for operations.
• Work cross-functionally to align with platform goals.
