Job summary

Vultr is seeking a Linux Systems Administrator to design, administer, and optimize Linux-based infrastructure supporting our global customer base and data center operations. The ideal candidate is technically driven, detail-oriented, and capable of independent judgment when diagnosing complex system issues and implementing scalable solutions.

You will work across systems, applications, and networking layers to maintain secure, reliable environments and support platform expansion.

Qualifications

• Experience administering Linux systems (CentOS, Debian, Ubuntu).
• Troubleshooting and analysis to resolve non-routine issues.
• Scripting in Bash or Python.
• Virtualization, networking, or software development is a plus.
• Hands-on with web servers, databases, caching, and firewalls.

Responsibilities

• Design, configure, and implement Linux upgrades and infrastructure changes for scalability and reliability.
• Administer Linux servers and services, diagnosing performance, stability, or security issues.
• Act as escalation point for Linux issues and determine remediation strategies.
• Support data center deployments, including system config and readiness.
• Perform migrations, evaluating dependencies and risks.
• Monitor performance and security, maintain compliance, and implement fixes.
• Develop automation, scripts, and tooling to improve efficiency.
• Produce technical docs, diagrams, and standards for consistent administration.
