Job summary

Vultr is seeking a Linux Systems Administrator to design, administer, and optimize Linux-based infrastructure supporting our global customer base and data center operations. The ideal candidate is technically driven, detail-oriented, and capable of independent judgment when diagnosing complex system issues.

You’ll work across systems, applications, and networking layers to maintain secure environments, contribute to upgrades, and support platform expansion in a high-growth cloud setting.

Qualifications

• Strong proficiency administering Linux systems (CentOS, Debian, Ubuntu).
• Experience troubleshooting and diagnosing non-routine technical issues.
• Scripting with Bash or Python; automation experience preferred.
• Familiarity with virtualization, networking, and security hardening.
• Experience with web servers, databases, firewalls, and storage solutions.

Responsibilities

• Design, configure, and implement Linux upgrades and infrastructure changes for scalability.
• Maintain Linux servers and services; diagnose performance, stability, or security issues.
• Serve as escalation point for Linux issues and determine remediation strategies.
• Collaborate with engineering/ops to support data center deployments.
• Migrate applications and systems; assess dependencies and risks.
• Monitor security posture and implement corrective actions to stay compliant.
• Develop automation, scripts, and tooling to improve efficiency.
• Create and maintain technical documentation and diagrams.
• Coordinate with teams to align sysadmin work with reliability goals.
