Job summary

Vultr seeks a Linux Systems Administrator to design, operate, and optimize Linux-based infrastructure supporting a global customer base and data center operations. The role requires independence, strong troubleshooting, and a drive to implement scalable solutions across multiple layers of the stack.

You will work with engineering, operations, and data center teams to maintain secure, reliable environments, drive upgrades, and support platform expansion in a high-growth cloud environment.

Qualifications

• Strong proficiency administering Linux systems (CentOS, Debian, Ubuntu).
• Experience applying systems-level troubleshooting and analysis to resolve non-routine technical issues.
• Familiarity with scripting languages such as Bash, Python, or similar.
• Experience with virtualization, networking, or software development is a plus.
• Hands-on experience configuring and supporting: Web servers, Databases and caching solutions, Firewalls.

Responsibilities

• Design, configure, and implement Linux upgrades to support scalability and reliability.
• Administer and maintain Linux servers; diagnose and resolve performance, stability, or security issues.
• Serve as escalation point for Linux issues; analyze root cause and remediation.
• Collaborate on new data center deployments; system config and app readiness.
• Migrate applications and systems; evaluate dependencies and risks.
• Monitor performance and security; implement corrective actions.
• Develop automation scripts and tooling.
• Produce documentation and diagrams; standards.
• Collaborate across teams for reliability and scalability.
