Job summary

AEP Texas Company, Inc. is seeking a Line Mechanic C to perform installation, maintenance and inspection of electrical transmission and distribution facilities. The role includes working with overhead and underground lines, and advancing through skill levels from C-100 to C-400 with increasing responsibilities.

Candidates must have at least one year of distribution line experience or a related program, and hold a valid Class A CDL. Overtime and on-call work are required in this role.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or GED required or equivalent.
• Experience: minimum of one year distribution electrical power line work or related line experience.
• Licenses: Valid Class A CDL required.

Responsibilities

• Assemble, install, maintain, remove and inspect overhead and underground facilities and equipment.
• Operate voltmeters, ammeters and other test equipment; work under supervision based on skill level.
• Progress through classifications per company guidance and demonstrate capability for higher voltages.
• Direct and supervise apprentices or assistants as assigned.
• Perform switching and tagging procedures safely on energized circuits.
