Job summary

AEP in Ohio seeks a Line Mechanic C to install, maintain, inspect and repair overhead/underground electrical facilities and operate line trucks and related equipment. The role builds on Line Mechanic D, advancing skills and responsibilities as experience grows.

Responsibilities include installing and testing conductors and equipment, energizing URD cables, and performing switching with proper tagging. Requires a HS diploma or GED and 1 year of distribution line experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum one year distribution electrical power line experience.
• One year of line-related schooling with internship may qualify.
• Associate degree in electrical power line field with internship accepted.

Responsibilities

• Assemble, install, maintain, remove and inspect overhead and underground facilities.
• Work on conductors, cables, transformers, structures and related equipment.
• Test, energize and troubleshoot URD cables and gear.
• Capable of working with voltages up to 600 volts under supervision.
• Direct and supervise assigned personnel as needed.
• Follow tagging, switching procedures and safety requirements.
